Where can you benefit from a HP? Pools/objects with mostly random access, low update intensity, and frequent re-reference of data…
So – the proper grouping of objects into pools based on similar access types and characteristics is necessary.
The DSNDB07 Sort Pool usually shows a good bit of random access. Depending on how large your sorts are, and how they run, determines if a HP can help… and this may vary at different times of the day. While most installations don’t get any/much benefit, some have gotten gotten good benefit. Try it – and measure it. If it helps, that’s great. If it doesn’t, delete it.
CMOS machine should not be using HPs unless there is more than 2 Gigabytes of memory installed.
