SMF 42-6 data:
There is a wealth of performance data available at the object or dataset level outside of DB2, from the SMF 42-6 records. Narrowing the data down to look at DB2 data provides some quick analysis of performance problems.
From the above data, the items that are often of greatest importance are the I/O Intensity, I/O Cache Hit %, and the I/O count.
I/O Intensity = I/O rate/Sec * Response Time
I/O Cache Hit % = cache Hits / I/O Count
