IRLM Considerations

• CPU costs are so small we normally don’t care…

  – Relationship to Timeout <= 50%

•  MVS Dispatching Priority

The total amount of CPU time charges to the IRLM over the course of an entire day, is so low that we generally don’t care.

Using PC=N on the JCL is quite important. This places all locks into ECSA, and reduces the overhead of locking by more than 5%.
