Now we have 60 pools (50-4K pools), adjustable thresholds, Hiper Pools, CPU and I/O Query Parallelism, better instrumentation, etc.
With V6 there are twenty additional pools, 10-8K pools, and 10-16K pools.

Guess what? The basics have not changed!!

If MVS isn’t properly set-up, if the DASD subsystem isn’t tuned, if the Buffer Pools and the rest of the system aren’t properly tuned…..
Performance can still be poor!
